A sit-down restaurant in downtown San Rafael blends owner Manivone Vongsouthi's Thai/Lao heritage in dishes of nam kao todd with homemade Lao sausage and plates of papaya salad studded with Thai green eggplant. Large plates of kap piet sem and kao prik sem feature house made noodles and Vongsouthi makes all the curry pastes in house, too, and garlic lovers will swoon over plates of garlic fish. Organic sauce and crust on a range of quick-serve pizzas (Margherita, barbecue chicken, build your own and a seasonal style) are ready in minutes. A gluten-free crust and dairy-free cheese are available. Loving Cup's organic yogurt range also expanded to include non-dairy and banana base flavors, in addition to 15 pre-mixed flavors. A range of toppings and mix-ins is available.

Erick Hendricks (Hilltop 1892) and wife, Keri, brought in chef Dustin Vorkoeper to create plates of Southern style barbecue chicken, pulled pork, beef brisket and St. Louis ribs. There's smoked brisket chili, a smoked brisket cheesesteak sandwich and even smoked cauliflower steaks. A black bean burger, jalapeño cole slaw, and kale salad tempt when the need for fiber strikes. A kids' menu includes classic Roy Rogers and Shirley Temple cocktails while 12 taps beckon with beer, kombucha and cider. Enjoy a meal at one of the covered picnic tables on the patio.

Run by Surinder “Pal” Sroa and his son Jyoti Sroa, also founders of the award-winning Lotus Cuisine of India in San Rafael, Cafe Lotus uses organic, local ingredients and fresh spices in their authentic, home-style Northern Indian.
